On this page, we will be providing information regarding the transition of the various REC applications, such as eLMS from the current shared environment to System 40 as it relates to the Federal Communications Commission and is directed mainly at staff of the Office of the Managing Director (OMD), their Office of the Chief Information Officer, the Media Bureau, the Offices of the Commissioners and federal contractors who handle information technology and cybersecurity.
During the transition period, the number of calls made from REC to the Commission resources will increase until the old infrastructure is retired. This increase in calls will take place in the various resources that are initiated by the automated processes and not by outside requests by end users.
During the period of time that our Drupal CMS remains on the old server, we will provide updates on our normal elms-info page.
For API and LMS application retrieval calls, we plan to use unique user agent version numbers for calls coming from the System 40 environment vs. those coming from the legacy environment.
Part of our overall plan is to transition terrain-based functions off of the FCC Contours API and on to internal processing which would mostly eliminate the end-user generated calls to the FCC API.
During this time, we will also be looking at transitioning more LMS applications over to eLMS processing including AM and TV engineering applications. While this would be nice for us, the transition of the current eLMS support will have priority.
If anyone from OMD or MB has questions regarding the System 40 transition, please do not hesiate to reach out to Michelle Bradley at REC Networks.
